Facet BWS


The FACET bilge water separator is used to process bilge water from Intermediate bilge water tank 15PS to Clean bilge water tank 18C or directly overboard via the Whitebox.
In normal operation the FACET will process from 15PS directly overboard via the Whitebox.
Before the FACET can be started to process bilge water overboard we have to ask permission from the on duty officer on the bridge. If we have permission from the on duty officer on the bridge we need a starting time and a starting position to enter in the appropriate log books.

Starting the FACET bilge water separator

·        1. Open the main overboard valve. (This valve is normally locked. The key is in the ECR).
·        2. Check if the suction valve of 15PS is open
·        3. Open the FACET main suction valve
·         4.Open the TOP technical water supply valve to the FACET.
·         5.Make sure the BOTTOM technical water supply valve is closed.
·         6.Open the technical water supply valve to the OCM
·         7.Check if the return valve to 15PS is open(in case of high ppm/recirculation)
·         8.Check if the Whitebox outlet valve is open
·         9.To start the FACET select the selector switch operation mode to MANUAL

After technical water supply solenoid valve will open to discharge any remaining oil out of the top of the FACET. When the FACET is full of clean water it will start processing.
·       10. Check the Whitebox is functioning properly

In order to process water from 15PS to 18C manifold valve number needs to be changed over. Instead of going to the Whitebox water will be going to the Clean bilge water tank.
If you want to process water from intermediate bilge water tank 15PS to Clean bilge water tank 18C no permission from the bridge watch officer is required.
Before starting the FACET check if the inlet valve to 18C is open

Stopping the FACET bilge water separator

·         1.Switch the selector switch operation mode to “0”
·         2.Close the main suction valve leading to the Facet
·         3.Close the technical water supply valve to the FACET
·         4.Flush the FACET OCM for at least 30 seconds
·         5.Close the technical water supply valve to the OCM
·         6.Close and lock the overboard valve
·         7.Flush the Whiteox OCM for at least 30 seconds
·         8.Report the Whitebox data logger overboard counter to the ECR
9.When the overboard valve is closed the bridge needs to be called for a stop time and a stop position.





Clean Bilge Overboard


The clean bilge overboard pump is used to pump water directly from Clean bilge water tank 18C overboard via the Whitebox.
Before the clean bilge overboard pump can be started to process bilge water overboard we have to ask permission from the on duty officer on the bridge. If we have permission from the on duty officer on the bridge we need a starting time and a starting position to enter in the appropriate log books.

Starting the clean bilge overboard pump



·         Open the main overboard valve. (This valve is normally locked. The key is in the ECR).
·         Open the suction valve of Clean bilge water tank 18C
·         Open the suction valve from Clean bilge water tank 18C to the clean bilge overboard pump
·         Open the suction and discharge valve of the clean bilge overboard pump
·         Open the technical water supply of the OCM
·         Check if the correct inlet valve of 15PS is open(in case of high ppm alarm/recirculation)
·         Check if the Whitebox outlet valve is open
·         Start the Clean bilge overboard pump
·         Check the suction and discharge pressures of the pump
 Check if the Whitebox is operating properly 

Stopping the clean bilge overboard pump

·         Stop the Clean bilge overboard pump by pressing the emergency stop
·         Close the inlet and outlet valve of the clean bilge overboard pump
·         Close the suction valve from the clean bilge water tank 18C to the clean bilge overboard pump
·         Close the suction valve of Clean bilge water tank 18C
·         Flush the OCM for at least 30 seconds
·         Close the technical water supply to the OCM
·         Close the return valve to 15PS
·         Close and lock the overboard valve.
When the overboard valve is closed the bridge needs to be called for a stop time and a stop position.


PIGGING


Apa itu "Pigging" dan Mengapa Perlu?
Mungkin diantara kita pernah mendengar istilah "Pigging" entah di lingkunganoil and gas industry atau services. Pigging adalah aktifitas pembersihaninternal - bagian dalam pipa dari kotoran (ntah wax, debris, scale, SRB,mungkin kayu?...pokoknya material yang dianggap bisa menghambat laju fluidaatau merusak bagian dalam pipa) dengan cara scarp atau swab denganmenggunakan "Pig". Mengapa ada kotoran? Karena kita faham bahwa prosessecara keseluruhan di Oil and Gas Production mulai dari pengambilan crudeoilnya itu dari reservoir sudah bercampur dengan lumpur, air atau debrissehingga tidak murni minyak melulu. Ada juga aktifitas penginjeksianchemical didalam pipa (namanya inhibitor) untuk melindungi internal surfacepipa dari pergerakan fluida crude oil atau dari efek korosi. Peristiwa lainyang harus dihindari adalah timbulnya SRB (Sulfate Reduction Bacteria)karena komunitas bakteri ini dapat menghasilkan H2S yang korosif dan mampumenyerang bagian internal pipa. Malah untuk pipeline yang baru diinstall(fase konstruksi) sering ditemukan kayu atau linggis lho. Lha semuamaterial ini seyogyanya dibuang dengan cara pembersihan sehingga kita bisamenjaga kelangsungan dan fungsi dari pipeline yakni sebagai media penghubungtransfer suatu fluida ataupun sebagai aset.Lalu apa itu "Pig"? Harfiahnya adalah "babi" atau ada juga yangmengistilahkan "tikus", tapi tentu bukan itu. Pig adalah sebuah istilah katayang berasal dari US sono, salah satu pengertian pig yang dapat diterimaadalah PIG=Pipeline Inspection Gauge atau mungkin karena pergerakan pig yangbergemuruh di dalam pipa jadi seperti babi? Ntahlah. Paradigma piggingadalah kegiatan yang paling acceptable saat ini untuk pembersihan internalpipa lewat cara memasukkan pig ke dalam pipeline dan meluncur bebas melaluibantuan pressure dan arah aliran fluida. Bahkan fungsinya telah berkembangsebagai alat yang mampu untuk mendeteksi ketebalan pipa (smartpig/intelegent pig) atau kebocoran (gel pig) dan typenya sudah ada sekitar350-an jenis. Saking banyaknya, kita harus jeli untuk memilih jenis pigmana yang tepat dengan maksud tertentu. Ada Pig jenis foam, metal brush,gauging, bend detector, plastic disc dll, jadi untuk maksud wax removal yangcocok adalah jenis plastic disc atau blades.Aktifitas Pigging adalah tidak disembarang facility, yang jelas pipelineharus "piggable" artinya kalo pig diluncurkan harus ada fasilitas "launcher"(pengirim), harus ada pipe lines, harus ada fasilitas "receiver" (penerima),harus ada juga safety devices lainnya seperti vent valve, trap kicker valve,pig signal, reducer dll. Meski ada bend, joint, valve, fitting diharapkanpig terus meluncur mulus tanpa hambatan dari launcher menuju receiver. Pigtrap atau fail tidak sampai di tujuan harus diharamkan karena akan membuataliran fluida terhambat (bisa saja over pressure atau shutdown), jikaterjadi trap maka pig bisa dikeluarkan dengan cara: dihancurkan denganchemical, didorong oleh pig lain dari belakang, atau malah jika perlupipanya harus dipotong?. Nah jadi didalam pembuatan program pipelinecleaning/ pigging harus benar2 dianalisa piggable-nya.Dimana Aspek Safety Engineering Diterapkan?Pada seluruh kegiatan Pigging tentunya (baik yang dilakukan pada fasekonstruksi, operasi ataupun inspection) harus diterapkan systems keselamatanyang baik. Dimulai dari pipelines design, jika fasilitas pipelinesdimaksudkan untuk pigging (cleaning maintenance) tentu harus ada safetydevices seperti trap kicker valve, pig signal, vent valve, pressure gauge,PSV dll (Nah disini aspek Safety Engineering sudah diterapkan). Harusdiingat bahwa sistem aliran fluida (ntah gas/ cair) di dalam pipa di Oil/GasIndustry kebanyakan itu bertekanan besar (high pressure) dan efek kegagalanatau bahaya dari pekerjaannya juga tinggi, maka kegiatan pigging digolongkansebagai kegiatan yang beresiko tinggi. Bagaimana ketika pengoperasianpigging? Ketika program pigging dilakukan, sebelumnya Safety Engineer jugaharus mendesain Risk Assessment-nya sehingga dengan mengetahui step of workpengoperasian pigging maka preventive action bisa diset up (salah satu RiskAssessment adalah JSA / Job Safety Analisys). Penggunaan PPE berkaitandengan kegiatan ini cukup diwajibkan, jenis-jenis PPE yang umum dipakaidiantaranya: Safety Helmet, Shoes, Masker (untuk menghindari vapour atautoxic gas ketika mengambil pig di receiver), Safety Glass, DisposableCoverall, Sarung tangan kerja, Celemek (untuk menghindari tumpahan/ cipratanwax, lumpur atau chemical yang terbawa oleh pig, maklum kadang pigging jugadilakukan untuk batch chemical inhibitor). Tumpahan campuran lumpur atauwax yang terbawa ini sangat beracun jika terhirup dan harus ditampungdidalam drum atau wadah yang telah diidentifikasi.Ketika meluncurkan atau menerima pig, posisi pekerja juga harus dalamkeadaan nyaman (ini dia aspek Ergonomis Safety Engineering diterapkan!)karena kadang kala berat pig cukup lumayan (4-20 Kgs) apalagi ketika kitamembuka atau menutup Gate pada pipa yang berdiameter besar juga memerlukantenaga yang tidak sedikit. Tentu jangan sampai ada efek lelah pinggang atau back pain akibat pekerjaan ini.

Boiler Emergency Operating Procedure



1)    Turn BURNER ON/OFF switch to position ON and the BURNER MODULATION MODE switch to position MANUAL.

2)    Replace the flame scanner with the manual flame scanner on the burner front.

3)    Turn the BURNER OPERATION MODE switch (key-operated) to MANUAL position. Then the  burner servomotor will now be forced to minimum position, the burner motor and combustion air fan will then be started.

4)    Press the MAN. INCREACE BURNER LOAD push button until the air fan damper reaches its maximum position (RACK POS:10). Allow the boiler to purge for a minimum of 60 sec.

Warning: Insufficient purging may cause dangerous furnace explosion.

5)    After purging the furnace press the MAN. DECREACE BURNER LOAD push button until the air fan damper reaches its minimum position (RACK POS:1).
     
     6) Press the IGNITION push button, until the ignition flame is established.

      7) If ignition was successful keep the IGNITION and OIL VALVES push buttons pressed   for a maximum of 5 sec.


In case no flame has been established, repeat the sequence from step 4..

The burner firing is stopped by turning the BURNER OPERATION MODE switch to AUTO position.

Warning:
In emergency operation the safety interlocks are reduced to:
-        TOO LOW WATER LEVEL 1+2
-        HIGH STEAM PRESSURE
-        OVERLOAD COMBUSTION AIR FAN
-        OVERLOAD BURNER MOTOR
-        BURNER SWING OUT

THEREFORE, SHIP’S ENGINEERING PERSONNEL MUST CAREFULLY AND UNINTERRUPTEDLY SUPERVISE THE BOILER.


EGB Washing Procedure


Step 1:- After the EGB is drained the top cover and the cover on the ducting before the EGB, and also the flange after the turbo chargers can be removed.
Step 2:- Fit the plexi glass window over the manhole on the ducting before the EGB
Step 3:- OPEN both drains on the EGB wash Tank
Step 4:- Make sure all EGB localtechnical water washing valves are closed

Step 5:- OPEN the Main Technical water valve located fwd port side of the technical water pumps aft.
Step 6:- OPEN the second technical valve in the fwd engine room casing deck 1


 Washing Nozzle

Step 7:- with one guy present at the lower manhole to observe the level in the exhaust ducting, that it does not overflow back to the engine, and one guy to operate the local technical water valve. Both persons are in communication with hand held radios, the washing can begin by opening the local tech water valve to the washing lances.
Warning Observe the level in 11P that the tank does not overflow, and that the water does not overflow back to the engine
Step 8:- After the washing is complete, CLOSE all three technical water valves
Step 9:- Flush the EGB wash tank through with technical water, after that drain the tank, Close the drains and fill the tank back up until it is half on the sight glass.
Step 10:- Close all manhole covers and the flange after the turbochargers

EGB Draining Procedure


Step 1:- isolate the diesel engine you want to drain the EGB.
1. Set engine to manual control on engine control room local panel.
2. Put the engine last in sequence on VDU
3. Start the PRE-LUB and JACKING pumps on MANUAL
3. On the engine, pull the emergency stop handle beside the local control stand down. Lock out tag out the handle in the down position.
4. CLOSE the starting air valve and lock out in the closed position.
5. OPEN the starting air drain and lock with provided key lock.
Step 2:- Stop and isolate the EGB Circulation pump
In the relevant 11kv switch board room. Stop the EGB pumps by the emergency stop, Open the breaker and switch the control to local. Lock out the breaker with scissors clamp.
Step 3:- Throttle the inlet valve to the EGB circ pump until almost closed
This valve is left open to keep the pump warm. To prevent the seals from leaking
Step 4:- SHUT the outlet valve of the EGB circ pump, and then lock out tag out with cable and locking clamp.
Step 5:- SHUT both inlet valves to the EGB in the engine casing. Lock out both valves with one long cable and locking clamp.
Step 6:- SHUT both outlet valves to the EGB, lock both valves together with one long cable and locking clamp.
Step 7:- CRACK OPEN the drain and the vent on the EGB
OVERBOARD VALVES MUST BE OPEN to drain the EGB
Warning do not open to much this will cause steaming on A deck form the drains.
Step 8:- OPEN the drain line after the outlet of the circ pump. This will prevent banging when filling up

EGB Filling Procedure


Step 1:- CRACK OPEN the outlet valve to the EGB circ pump and let the warm water heat the inlet line to the EGB line. Close the drain valve after the EGB circ pump when hot water comes out.
Step 2:- SLOWLY OPEN the suction valve to the EGB Circ pump. And then OPEN the discharge valve to half way.
Step 3:- after the inlet line to the EGB is warm crack open the inlet valves one at a time.
Step 4:- when warm water starts to come out of the drain of the EGB, CLOSE both the drain valves. Let the EGB fill up naturally until water comes out of the vent line. Then CLOSE the vent line. Wait for EGB pressure to rise.
Step 5:- Crack open both outlet valves one at a time.
Step 6:- After the lines are all warmed up fully open the inlet valves and the outlet valves. Also fully open the discharge valve of the circ pump. Leave the EGB to naturally warm up for an hour.
Step 7:- De-isolate the EGB Circ pump breaker by removing the breaker lock out tag out, putting the pump to remote and take out the emergency stop.
Step 8:-On the VDU set the circ pump to MANUAL. DECREASE the set point for speed to 20%, next start the pump. Visually inspect the pump and EBG,if all is OK then slowly ramp the pump up to 80% stepping 10% at a time. When at 80% set the pump to Automatic
Step 9:- If all is well the engine can be de-isolated by
1. Closing the drain for the starting air
2. Open the starting air valve
3. On the engine, reset the emergency stop handle beside the local control stand
4. Put the engine from MANUAL to REMOTE on the ECR local panel.
5. Put the PRE-LUB and JACKING pumps to AUTO
6. Put the engine back on standby on the VDU
