Engine LT Cooling Water System Isolation Procedure

GENERAL

·         Ask the chief engineer for permission and inform the bridge that maintenance will be carried out ( if applicable, i.e. maintenance on propulsion equipment / stabilizers / safety and lifesaving equipment etc ).

·         Inform senior watch engineer (SWE) about all maintenance that will be performed in the engine room.

·         Follow the log/tag-out procedure as per MR600 section 5.

·         Use necessary personal protection equipment (PPE).

JOB INSTRUCTION

·         Switch the engine to 1 – local

·         isolate the starting air on the engine, see “engine starting air isolation procedure”.

·         At the control stand place the emergency – off lever in the stop position ( see picture)

·         Refer to drawing “ main engine LT cooling water isolation V/V”s and :

Ø  Close valve ½ and attach the related tag.

Ø  Close the valve 2/2 and attach the related tag.

Ø  Relief the engine LT system pressure by opening the drain valve and attach the related tag.

·         On the ECR mimic panel display “ D/G ISOLATED “ and “ LT ISOLATED”
