Boiler Emergency Operating Procedure



1)    Turn BURNER ON/OFF switch to position ON and the BURNER MODULATION MODE switch to position MANUAL.

2)    Replace the flame scanner with the manual flame scanner on the burner front.

3)    Turn the BURNER OPERATION MODE switch (key-operated) to MANUAL position. Then the  burner servomotor will now be forced to minimum position, the burner motor and combustion air fan will then be started.

4)    Press the MAN. INCREACE BURNER LOAD push button until the air fan damper reaches its maximum position (RACK POS:10). Allow the boiler to purge for a minimum of 60 sec.

Warning: Insufficient purging may cause dangerous furnace explosion.

5)    After purging the furnace press the MAN. DECREACE BURNER LOAD push button until the air fan damper reaches its minimum position (RACK POS:1).
     
     6) Press the IGNITION push button, until the ignition flame is established.

      7) If ignition was successful keep the IGNITION and OIL VALVES push buttons pressed   for a maximum of 5 sec.


In case no flame has been established, repeat the sequence from step 4..

The burner firing is stopped by turning the BURNER OPERATION MODE switch to AUTO position.

Warning:
In emergency operation the safety interlocks are reduced to:
-        TOO LOW WATER LEVEL 1+2
-        HIGH STEAM PRESSURE
-        OVERLOAD COMBUSTION AIR FAN
-        OVERLOAD BURNER MOTOR
-        BURNER SWING OUT

THEREFORE, SHIP’S ENGINEERING PERSONNEL MUST CAREFULLY AND UNINTERRUPTEDLY SUPERVISE THE BOILER.
